Braehead Phase One

Braehead Shopping Centre opened in September 1999, marking the first phase of one of the country’s largest riverside regeneration projects. Now firmly one of Scotland’s leading destinations, it offers a wide choice of shopping and leisure activities including skating, curling, the Maritime Heritage Centre and an international arena which plays host to national and international events.

Braehead Phase Two

The second phase of the project has gained planning consent and is now well underway with many aspects having been completed or under construction. When fully complete it will include:

  • 650,000 sq ft. of office space in 4 low density business parks. The first phase 1 of Renfrew Riverside Braehead is now complete providing 33,300 sq ft. of business space. Business occupiers that have chosen to locate at Braehead include; Audi (opened 2004), Porcelanosa (opened 2007), Purple Hotel (opened 2008), GAP Group (under construction), Porsche (under construction), Xerox (opened 2008) and Travelodge (opened 2008).
  • Xscape (opened April 2006), a leisure scheme providing Scotland's first indoor real snow ski slope, a multiplex cinema, bowling, restaurants and specialty retail, in all some 460,000 sq. ft. of space. Xscape Braehead is a joint venture between Capital Shopping Centre's and Capital & Regional.
  • Braehead will include over 2000 new homes comprising a mixture of flats, town houses and detached houses. The first homes where occupied in December 2005 and many more are now under construction.
  • Clyde View Park (opened summer 2005) covers 7 acres and features green space, paths, cycleways, play areas, picnic areas, artwork, fountains. There is direct pedestrian access onto the riverside walkway which runs for 1.3 miles along the clyde.
  • Infrastructure work including roads and the provision of services has now been largely completed.
