HR company announces 200 new jobs

Human resources firm Ceridian is to create 200 new jobs in Renfrewshire over the next four years. The company plans to relocate from its current base at Hillington to a new purpose-built site at Braehead in 2011. Ceridian said plans already in place would see the workforce rise from 280 to 390 by the end of next year. With the help of more than £3m in Scottish government support, the firm said a further 200 new jobs would bring the workforce to 590 by 2014.

Ceridian, which provides HR services to clients such as Asda and Lloyds Banking Group, said the new jobs would be in administration, payroll processing, employee support and finance and expense management.

It has been given £1.83m through Scottish Enterprise and £1.7m in Regional Selective Assistance, as well as a Training Plus grant of £134,000.

Announcing the funding, First Minister Alex Salmond said: "Ceridian's decision to expand its Scottish operation, which is now its largest centre of excellence in the UK, is testament to the quality and skills of the local workforce and the reputation and strength of staff at the Hillington site."

Doug Sawers, managing director of Ceridian UK, said: "We are delighted with the progress of our Scottish operation over the last three years, which is now our largest UK centre of excellence.

"The success has been such that we now plan to expand from this excellent base, and in response to customer and market demand, grow our presence still further."
